MICROSOFT 365 AND MODERN WORKPLACE
Microsoft 365 and Modern Workplace solutions for Brevard County businesses
Get the full value of your Microsoft licensing — with security, productivity, and adoption built in from the start.
Most small and mid-sized businesses use Microsoft 365, and most of them are using a small fraction of what they are actually paying for. The licenses are powerful. The platforms are robust. The opportunities for productivity, security, and collaboration are enormous. The problem is that nobody has helped them set it up properly, secure it, or actually use it.
At Run Smarter IT, we are deeply experienced with the full Microsoft 365 platform. We help Brevard County businesses get real value out of their Microsoft investment — end to end.
WHAT IS MODERN WORKPLACE
More than email — a complete cloud-first work environment
The Microsoft Modern Workplace combines Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange, Office apps, Entra ID, Intune, and the Microsoft security stack — all working together.
Done well it makes your team more productive from anywhere, improves security, and simplifies onboarding. Done poorly it is a mess of unused licenses and frustrated users. The difference is the partner running it.
WHAT WE DO
Eight ways we help you get real value from Microsoft 365

Structured rollout, governance, channel design, and training so your team actually uses it.

WHAT WE DO
When set up well, Microsoft 365 lets a 10-person business work like a 200-person business
WHO THIS IS FOR
Built for SMBs with 10 to 200 Microsoft 365 users
If you have between 10 and 200 users on Microsoft 365 and you are not 100 percent sure you are getting the value you should, we can help.
THE M365 SECURITY GAP
Microsoft 365 is powerful out of the box — and insecure out of the box
Microsoft 365 ships with default settings optimized for ease of use, not security. MFA is not enforced. Legacy authentication is not blocked. Audit logging is not fully enabled. External forwarding rules are permitted. Most small businesses running M365 are operating in roughly this default state — email working, Teams in use, but the security posture significantly weaker than it should be.
The good news is that a properly configured Microsoft 365 environment is genuinely secure. The tools are there. They just need to be turned on, configured correctly, and monitored on an ongoing basis. That is exactly what we do.
MICROSOFT 365 ACROSS BREVARD COUNTY
Helping Brevard County businesses get real value from their Microsoft investment
Microsoft 365 is the productivity backbone for the vast majority of small and mid-sized businesses in Brevard County — across professional services offices on Murrell Road, manufacturing operations along I-95, dental and medical practices from Titusville to Palm Bay, and construction businesses keeping up with the county’s growth. Almost every one of them has an M365 subscription. Almost none are getting the full value of it.
We have helped businesses across Melbourne, Viera, Rockledge, Palm Bay, Cocoa, and Titusville move from a basic, poorly configured M365 environment to a properly secured, well-organized, and genuinely productive one. The difference in day-to-day experience — faster collaboration, cleaner files, fewer security incidents — is consistently one of the things new clients notice most quickly.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Common questions about Microsoft 365 for small businesses
Business Basic, Standard, or Premium — which M365 license do we need?
For most of our clients we recommend Business Premium because the security capabilities it includes — Intune, Defender for Business, Entra ID Premium, and Azure Information Protection — would cost more to add separately. The security gap between Basic and Premium is significant. We do license audits as part of onboarding and make specific recommendations based on your team’s actual needs.
We already have Microsoft 365 set up. What would you actually change?
Most M365 environments set up without a specialist have the same gaps — MFA not enforced, legacy authentication not blocked, audit logging incomplete, external forwarding permitted, Defender not configured, Intune not deployed. We assess your tenant, document what we find, prioritize what to address, and work through hardening without disrupting your team. Most clients are surprised both by what was missing and how quickly it can be fixed.
Does Microsoft back up our data in Microsoft 365?
No — Microsoft is responsible for platform availability, not your data. Their retention policies are designed for compliance, not disaster recovery. If a user accidentally deletes files, a disgruntled employee wipes a mailbox, or ransomware encrypts your SharePoint — recovery capability is limited. We deploy independent third-party backup for Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams for every M365 client. It is non-negotiable.
How do you handle M365 for a team that works remotely or in multiple locations?
M365 is built for remote and multi-location work — that is one of its core strengths. The configuration work is in making sure remote access is secure, device management is in place for computers outside the office, Teams and SharePoint support how your team actually collaborates, and conditional access restricts access from unmanaged or risky devices. We have helped businesses across Brevard County move from a collection of remote work workarounds to a clean, well-managed environment.
What is Microsoft Intune and does my business need it?
Intune is the device management component of M365 Business Premium. It lets you manage and secure the computers, phones, and tablets your team uses — enforcing security policies, requiring encryption, enabling remote wipe if a device is lost or stolen. For businesses with remote workers, field teams, or employees using personal devices, Intune is one of the most important security tools available. It is included in Business Premium at no additional cost. Most SMBs that have it are not using it. We deploy Intune as standard in our M365 hardening process.
